  Brudgar

  • Brudgar      Brudgar Frost-Watch is a highly respected Nord of Windhelm, Skyrim. His eyes are light grey, described as ice blue by friends, ice cold by enemies. The son of a priest, Brudgar is a very pious man, devoting his life to both the church and his family. He was employed by the Windhelm militia, but works for all causes that promote either his faith or the people of Skyrim.
At the age of fourteen, he married a family friend of the same age, Ysmara. By the time they were nineteen, they had already had three children. In 3E 433, in his twenty-ninth year, Brudgar has five children. From oldest to youngest, they are Ysmara, Romar, Eigma, Baenar, and Ulfgar. At the age of twelve, Romar had already earned a title, Romar the Ice Fang, and was a famed novice in the Windhelm militia. Romar is eager to follow after his father, in all his noble and secret pursuits.
Brudgar is among the founders of a secret society, called the Grey Mariners. The group is not concerned with sea travel, although it collectively owns a galley ship which was donated to the group by a wealthy member. Meetings are often held on the ship while at sea, in order to keep all conversations and activities secret. The group perceives a threat to Skyrim, and to all of Tamriel, from many enemies, chiefly the Daedra Princes. Ever watchful of activities in nearby Morrowind, the group detected a rise in popularity of Daedra worship, and a weakening of influence of the Dunmer Temple. Although the Grey Mariners did not approve of the Temple, they believed it was benign and self-interested, and that the rise of Daedric influence in Morrowind foretold a greater pattern unfolding.
In 3E 427, the Grey Mariners investigated the Nerevarine Cults in Morrowind, trying to determine motives for Azura's involvement. However, Brudgar made discoveries which he thought were more important, and led the organization in a new direction. Investigations on Solstheim introduced him to two men connected with Sheogorath, Hermaeus Mora and others. Brudgar would spend many years pursuing Oberyn and Maurivar, trying to unravel the Daedric plot underlying their relationship.
