He is able to use different types of magic. Most mages specialize in only one warren, but Bottle accesses a variety of different powers. He uses the holds rather than the warrens, saying that he doesn't like the warrens. His grandmother taught him to use the holds, and was the one who urged him to join the Malazan army.

He uses his powers to travel unseen to spy on others. He has pet lizards that he uses to facilitate his sneaking.
