Frequently Asked Questions

Q: How do I warn that a page contains mature content suitable only for adults?
A: Use the Submit Information link and create an entry in the "Synopsis" or "Overview" category that says something like "WARNING: This page contains adult content!" Ensure that it appears near the top of the page.

Q: Are the pages I create going to be indexed by Google, Yahoo, and other search engines? Will people be able to find my Codex pages by searching the Internet?
A: Yes, all pages at the Codex will be indexed by search engines. Search engines follow their own schedules, and have their own mysterious ways of finding web pages. So, it might take a few days, weeks, or months until new pages at the Codex are added to the search engines.

If there are links on other web sites that point to your Codex pages, there is a higher chance that your pages will be indexed sooner and rank higher in search results.

Q: I want to delete my universe, but don't see a delete option. How can I delete it?
A: If your universe is less than one week old, then you should see a Destroy Universe option in the menu on the left. Go to the main page of your universe (by clicking on the name of your universe at the top left) and look for Destroy Universe.

If your universe is older than one week, then make a request to a moderator using the [Report a problem about this page to a moderator] link at the bottom of the universe's main page. We will decide whether the universe should be deleted or not. If others have been participating in the universe, then we may need to get their permission before deleting it. Please give your reasons for deleting the universe in the moderator request form.

Q: Is the address of each page in my universe unique? Can I copy the address of my pages and use them?
A: Yes, the address of every page at the Codex is unique. You can trust that they will not change. Feel free to use the address (URL) that appears in your browser's address bar as a permanent link to a page.
