Products, Characters, and Articles
At the Codex, a universe is a hierarchy of separate web pages. The main universe page can have other pages that it links to, and those pages can have their own pages that they link to, and so on. There are three types of pages: products, articles, and characters. All pages function in nearly the same way, with some subtle differences.
For information on how to create these pages, check out the Getting Started page.
Product pages have release dates associated with them, and can be automatically referenced by character pages. A product page is intended to document a movie, novel, television series, and any other thing that has a release date associated with it.
Character pages are used to document information about characters, and have a fixed number of categories in which you can provide information. After products have been added to the universe, you can indicate that a character is found in some or all of the products. Doing so will automatically add links to the character's products.
Article pages are the all-purpose pages in a universe. Typically, they are used to document information that is not specific to a single product or character. Topics may include history, races, magic, places, themes, religions, maps, and any other topic you can imagine.
Product and Article pages can have "child" pages. For example, a page about a novel can have an article to discuss symbolism found in that novel. This is a good way to keep the size of pages from getting out of control. It is also likely that a page for a novel will have an article for each chapter of the novel. Chapter articles are the perfect way to create chapter summaries.
